Fichi secchi di Cosenza DOP
Dry figs of Cosenza are typically the Dottato variety. The first step of the drying process takes place on the tree, before the fruits are exposed under the Sun. This product has a particular sweet flavor, almost saccharine. A typical dessert of the region are fig crosses (crocette di fico), which are figs arranged in the shape of a cross with nuts, almonds, citrus, honey, and baked in the oven.
